Bill Boatman, 2012 GAR President

Bill Boatman of Augusta is the 2012 President of the Georgia Association of REALTORS®.

Bill is a graduate of Augusta College and obtained his real estate license in 1975. He has worked with Meybohm REALTORS® since 1982, and currently serves as the Executive Vice President and General Manager for the company. Bill has earned the CRB designation (Certified Residential Broker) from the REALTORS® National Marketing Institute, and is a graduate of Leadership Augusta.

Bill has served in a variety of committee roles and leadership positions at the local level for the Greater Augusta Association of REALTORS®, including a stint as President in 2005. He was named REALTOR® of the Year for the Greater Augusta in 2006. Bill has also served GAR in several capacities, including Region 5 Director. He is a Professional Standards Instructor and has been an RPAC “Sterling R” contributor for more than five years.

Outside of the office, Bill enjoys volunteering with his church, as well as several charities including Golden Harvest Food Bank, Garden City Rescue Mission, the United Way, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Bill lives in Augusta with his wife, Kathy. They have three children and one grandchild.

Debra S. "Deb" Junkin, GAR Chief Executive Officer

Debra S. “Deb” Junkin was named CEO for the Georgia Association of REALTORS® in January 2010 after an extensive nationwide search. Deb was formerly the Association Executive for the East Metro Board of REALTORS® in Covington, Ga., and she served as GAR’s Director of Administration from 2008-2009.

“I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead GAR,” Deb says. “Through collaboration with the association leadership and staff, we will focus on implementing the directives of the Strategic Plan while growing the association’s assets, enhancing the member value proposition, and expanding the association’s sphere of influence.”

"The REALTOR® association is unique in the three-tiered service model utilized at the national, state and local levels to serve the needs of the members. Through active partnering and sharing of resources between all three tiers, our goal is to provide support for the local associations that will result in additional benefits for the membership across the state."

Deb holds the Strategies in Non-Profit Management Certificate from the University of Chicago, as well as the REALTOR® Certified Executive (RCE) designation from the National Association of REALTORS®. In March 2010, Deb completed her coursework for Duke University’s Non-Profit Management Program. In addition to her duties at GAR, Deb currently serves on the NAR REALTOR® AE Magazine Editorial Board and on the AE Institute Advisory Board.

Deb is married to Chip Junkin and together they have seven children ranging in age from 20-31: Jason (31), Jason (30), Casey (29), Jenny (27), Meagan (24), Chris (22), Stevin (20). They also have a seven-year-old granddaughter, Bailey, and a grandson, Elliott, born in December 2010.

In addition to spending time with their ever expanding family, which includes their son-in-law Jon and daughter-in-law, Jenelle; they enjoy entertaining, traveling, reading and sailing.
